NORMAN — Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man early Wednesday after he allegedly broke into Maguire Farm Store in Noble, according to court papers.
Prosecutors have charged William Alexander Bedell, 30, of Wynnewood with second-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools, court records show. A Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department employee said Bedell was being held at the county jail.
According to a court affidavit, deputies were sent to the store at 9551 Maguire Road about 3:50 a.m. Wednesday about an alarm. When deputies arrived, they found a white man wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.
The man was identified as Bedell, the affidavit stated. A deputy said he found Bedell inside the store crouched down in front of an ATM. One of the deputies saw Bedell using an electric saw with a crowbar to access the front panel of the ATM, according to the affidavit.
A deputy approached Bedell and identified himself as a sheriff’s deputy, the affidavit stated. The deputy told Bedell to let him see his hands.
Bedell, who had a black mask on under his hoodie, looked at the deputy and ran toward the north end of the business, according to the affidavit.
The deputy found Bedell still inside the store and told him to lie down and put his hands behind his back, the affidavit stated. Deputies cleared the store and determined that Bedell was the only suspect at the scene.
According to the affidavit, the ATM, a door and a ventilation fan were damaged during the alleged burglary.
Bedell was read his Miranda warning and said, “I don’t want to talk until I speak with my lawyer,” the affidavit read.
Records did not indicate if a court date for Bedell has been scheduled.
