OKC man held on murder complaint

NORMAN — An Oklahoma City man being held without bond on three first-degree murder complaints made an appearance Monday morning in McClain County District Court.

McClain County Prosecutor John Pevehouse said Shaun Michael Bosse, 27, appeared before Special Judge Gary Barger at a probable cause hearing in Purcell.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Bosse on Friday night at his apartment. Earlier that day, Katrina Griffin and her two children, Christian Griffin and Chasity Hammer were found dead inside a burned mobile home on Oklahoma 39, about 10 miles west of Purcell.

OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown said Bosse had a relationship with Katrina Griffin. Brown didn’t know whether the two shared a violent history, she said.

Brown said the bodies were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

Cherokee Ballard, spokesperson for the Medical Examiner’s Office, said pathologists had performed at least one autopsy by Monday evening. It could be later in the week before preliminary autopsy reports are available.

Brown said agents expected to have a probable cause affidavit prepared today. At that time, investigators will present information to the McClain County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.

Pevehouse said Judge Barger asked Bosse if he could afford an attorney at Monday’s hearing.

“He stated he could not,” Pevehouse said.

Barger instructed Bosse to fill out the appropriate paperwork to apply for a public defender, Pevehouse said. Judge Barger continued the hearing for 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

At Wednesday’s appearance, Barger could decide whether Bosse is indigent, Pevehouse said.

“If he is found indigent, he will appoint a public defender and give him time to consult with his attorney,” Pevehouse said.

Court records show Bosse has a pending legal matter in Cleveland County District Court. He was charged in January 2009 with second-degree burglary.

According to court records, he is scheduled enter a plea in the case at 2 p.m. Aug. 19.
