Rawhide opens doors for trunk show, fundraiser

Wednesday evening downtown Norman was bustling with a few extra cowboys and cowgirls — and even a couple of city slickers.

Many saddled up to Rawhide, 209 E. Main St., for a Lucchese Classics and Vogt Silversmiths trunk show. Angie Bailey, Rawhide’s owner, said the main attraction for the trunk show was a pair of Lucchese 125th anniversary limited edition boots that retailed for $12,500. Patrons of the trunk show could register to win the boots. The raffle, Bailey said, was to benefit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

“When I opened I knew I wanted to partner with the Cowboy Hall of Fame,” Bailey said.

Bailey added that her desire for the partnership was because the museum supports Western culture, which is the focus of her business.

Bailey, who co-owns the store with her husband Dr. Jim Bailey, opened Rawhide in October.

Rawhide specializes in furnishings, boots, apparel, jewelry, art and buckles. The store also has a Web site, www.shoprawhide.com.
