Leadership Graduation 2008

Seventy-two Norman residents celebrated the completion of their experiences in the chamber's leadership programs April 22 as they walked across the stage in a graduation ceremony commemorating their achievements. The new graduates of the chamber's leadership programs -- Leadership Norman, Tomorrow's Leaders and Leaders Plus -- were joined by nearly 150 guests consisting of family, friends and business sponsors who have supported the programs throughout the year. The three programs are designed to identify and cultivate community leaders of all ages and encourage them to use their talents to make Norman a better community to live and work in.

Participants of each class selected one of their peers to represent them as class speaker. Kyle Ferguson spoke on behalf of Tomorrow's Leaders, Frankie Walters represented Leader's Plus and Brenda Finkle was selected by Leadership Norman. All three gave speeches summarizing their classes' experience over the past six months.

Also recognized at this year's graduation were the eight members of the Leadership Program team whose work behind the scenes allows the program to run smoothly; Leadership Development co-chairs Diana Hartley and Kevin Hopper; Leadership Norman co-chairs Kyle Caldwall and Stephanie Royce; Tomorrow's Leaders co-chairs Sean Crandall and Lori Thrower; and Leaders Plus co-chairs, Jerry Lafoon and JoAnn Terrill.

The culmination of the ceremony came at the end of the evening when Finkle was presented with the Earl Sneed Award which recognizes the outstanding member of the Leadership Norman class.
