Norman Regional Health System administrators Melvin Alexander and Greg Terrell have been promoted to newly created senior vice president positions, according to David Whitaker, Norman Regional Health System president and chief executive officer.

Alexander is serving as senior vice president of administrative services and chief financial officer.

Terrell has been named senior vice president and chief operating officer. Alexander is responsible for the health system's financial endeavors including finance, supply chain management, patient accounts and information, legal and regulatory services, real estate holdings, managed care and the management services organization.

Alexander has been with the health system since October 2003. He was instrumental in positioning Norman Regional to qualify and obtain the best rates on bond financing to fund the health system's HealthPlex Campus expansion. He earned his bachelor's of science in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas and holds a master's of business administration from City University in Bellevue, Wash. He is a certified public accountant in both Oklahoma and Texas and a fellow with the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Terrell has responsibility for operations including inpatient care services, regional outpatient services, community and system support services, human resources, business development, construction and facility management. Terrell has worked with Norman Regional since March 2003 and is experienced in providing leadership in hospital administration, facility operations and physician services. He is charged with overseeing the construction of the hospital on the HealthPlex Campus, as well as future development of the site and revitalization of the Porter Avenue Campus. He earned his bachelor's of business administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and holds a master's degree in health administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. Terrell is a diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives.



Mandy Haws, manager of family-owned-and-operated Sooner Bowling Center?in Norman, has been named to several national bowling industry committees and events.?

As a member of the Young Guns national committee of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America, Haws was asked to attend both the Bowling Proprietors Association of America and the United States Bowling Congress boards of directors meetings this fall. The Young Guns committee seeks to integrate a younger generation of proprietors and managers into the industry.?

Haws also serves on the BPAA management and training committee, which has initiated a national management school for the industry.?

Locally, she is a member of the Oklahoma State High School Bowling executive committee and recently was elected vice president for the Oklahoma Proprietors Association.?



One Norman and one Moore resident recently received acceptance into the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. Myung W. Lee, CPA of Moore, and John D. Griffith, CPA of Norman, entered the OSCPA as fellow members. Lee is a sole practitioner in Oklahoma City. Griffith is employed as an auditor with Crossroads Youth -- Family Services in Norman.
