Buffalo Lounge
Oklahoma’s best elevator pitches from interactive entrepreneurs are sought for a $10,000, one-night pitch competition March 11 at the South By Southwest Conference & Festival in Austin, Texas.
Finalists, selected by a panel of entrepreneurs and angel investors from among 90-second video pitches submitted by Feb. 6, will pitch their business opportunities for a $5,000 grand prize in the Buffalo Lounge Elevator Pitch Competition for Oklahoma interactive companies.
The pitch competition will be conducted at 9 p.m. March 11, before a live audience at The 512 Bar on 6th, 408 E. Sixth Street in Austin. It is sponsored by the Office of Entrepreneurial Development, a partnership between i2E and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber.

The Buffalo Lounge began in 2010 when the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, the Idea Collective and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber led an effort to create a collaborative effort to increase Oklahoma’s presence at the SXSW festival.

Bridal Fair
in Norman
Embassy Suites Norman Hotel and Conference Center will be hosting a bridal show today from 1 to 4 p.m. at the hotel at 2501 Conference Drive. The show will feature more than 50 vendors who will be discussing the latest trends for brides and weddings. First State Bank recognized
The Oklahoma State Department of Health has selected First State Bank, Cleveland County’s oldest bank, as a Certified Healthy Business. The state’s “Shape Your Future” campaign recognizes businesses that make a positive impact on the health of their employees by creating a healthy work environment.
Sparks Clinic attends seminar
Megan Borne and Whitney Smith, Chiropractic Assistants at Sparks Clinic, recently traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada for their first Parker Chiropractic Seminar. Borne and Smith had the honor of meeting and learning from former President of Parker Chiropractic College, Dr. Fabrizio Mancini and former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Jerry Rice. While there they learned about the philosophy of chiropractic and how to help others have a healthier life with chiropractic. Sparks Clinic specializes in chiropractic and acupuncture and has offices in Norman and Moore.
Tax prep
A federal judge recently granted a permanent injunction to stop IRS’ plan to require all tax preparers to be registered, pass a competency test and complete continuing education. Many considered this a blow to the IRS, which has funneled heavy staff resources and millions of dollars into the effort, and also to American taxpayers who continue to be at the mercy of ignorant or fraudulent tax preparers.
Judge James Boasberg referred to the IRS requirements as an “invalid regulatory regime,” siding with the position of the Institute for Justice, the Libertarian organization that filed the suit, that IRS’ efforts are a “power grab.”
