NORMAN — YMCA promotes Traci Wells

Group fitness instructor and former Group Fitness Coordinator, Traci Wells is taking on a new position as Healthy Living Director at Cleveland County Family YMCA. Wells began working at the Y in Norman almost four years ago as a group fitness instructor. As the Healthy Living Director Wells oversees the daily activities of the fitness center, personal trainers, and the group fitness programs. Wells describes herself as a “weight room junkie” who developed a passion for group fitness after attending group fitness training during an internship while working toward her master’s degree.  

Wells received her Bachelor in Science Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and, after teaching science and chemistry in Oklahoma and Missouri, she went on to receive her master’s degree in wellness management from University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Wells is certified to instruct several group fitness classes including Zumba, Zumba Gold, Turbo Kick, Hip Hop Hustle, Ripped and PiYo. 

City Clerk

Brenda Hall, City Clerk, has earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk, which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Inc. IIMC grants the CMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks, founded in 1947, has 10,300 members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, and the mission of this global nonprofit corporation is to enhance the education opportunities and professional development of its diverse membership.

Armbruster

Gary Armbruster, Principal and Architect of Oklahoma City’s MA+ Architecture, has been elected Oklahoma State Director at the International Conference of The Council of Educational Facility Planners International, according to Paul Meyer, also a Principal and Architect of the firm and the former Architect and Curator for the Oklahoma State Capitol.

Currently there are only two individuals so designated in Oklahoma and 28 worldwide. Armbruster was also recently appointed to Oklahoma Commission on School Security, headed by Lt. Governor Todd Lamb. MA+ Architecture, LLC was formed in 1968 and is headquartered in Oklahoma City. It has received local, regional and national awards for excellence in design and specializes in educational, historic preservation, and religious architecture. The Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce has twice recognized the firm as one of the metropolitan area’s fastest growing, privately owned companies with the Metro 50 Award.
