Jonathan Fowler named VPO for Fowler Holding

NORMAN — Jonathan Fowler, general manager for Fowler Volkswagen of Norman, has been promoted to vice president of operations for Fowler Holding Company.  In his new role, Fowler will oversee marketing, community relations, social media and digital strategy for the company’s seven car dealerships in Norman, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Denver.

“I’m excited to announce Jonathan Fowler’s promotion as vice president of operations for Fowler Holding Company,” said Mike Fowler, CEO for Fowler Auto Group. “Jonathan has been in the automobile business for more than a decade and is a graduate of NADA’s Dealer Academy and has been general manager for Fowler Volkswagen for the past two years.  Jonathan has worked very hard to earn his promotion and I am not only glad to make his announcement as CEO of Fowler Holding Company, but as his father as well.”

Since taking charge of Fowler Volkswagen of Norman when it opened in August 2010, Fowler has helped the dealership quickly grow into one of the leading car dealers in Oklahoma and a national leader among Volkswagen dealers.

“It’s bittersweet,” Jonathan Fowler said.  “I love my job with Volkswagen and feel like we’ve done a lot of good, but I’m thrilled at the opportunity to continue that work with our other stores in my new role.”

He said communtiy outreach and grassroots events will play a major role in his new job description as he works with the other Fowler stores to get them involved in those community events.

Born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, Jonathan Fowler grew up on automobiles and the arts. He began his career in the auto industry at age six by delivering mail at his grandfather’s Toyota store.

Today, as General Manager for Fowler Volkswagen of Norman, Jonathan Fowler represents the third generation in his family to lead a dealership.

His experience and love for the arts culminated in 2008 when he played a lead role in creating the Norman Music Festival, an indie music festival in the heart of downtown Norman that now attracts 50,000 people every year.

Jonathan Fowler’s mission for the dealership has been to sponsor, promote and even create new efforts that build Oklahoma’s creative momentum.

Those efforts include creating the award-winning VDub Sessions video series featuring Oklahoma’s best local musicians and artists; creating a free annual holiday album and concert featuring local musicians; establishing the Norman Arts Council’s Arts in Education Award honoring local teachers; sponsoring the Oklahoma Film and Music Office’s SXSW Buffalo Lounge; and being the presenting sponsor of Oklahoma City’s Plaza District, the Norman Music Festival, Dustbowl Arts Market, OKC Comedy, Block Party OKC, The SPY FM, and a free concert series at The Opolis.

Jonathan Fowler’s involvement in the arts also includes serving as a board member for the Norman Music Festival, Norman Arts Council, Norman Public Arts Board and Norman Music Alliance.

He is a graduate of Leadership Norman and lives near the University of Oklahoma campus with his wife Natalie.
