NORMAN — Health for Friends CMO achieves board certification

Catherine L. White, MD and Chief Medical Officer at Health for Friends, recently achieved board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. White joined the Health for Friends medical staff in November, 2012, as full-time physician and CMO at the nonprofit community health center and is seeing both children and adults. This brings the total number of paid full-time members of the medical staff at the Health for Friends main site and Women and Children’s Center to eight

Oklahoma’s Buffalo Lounge at the 512 Bar in Austin, Texas, will come to life at 9 p.m. March 11 when nine interactive entrepreneurs pitch their concepts to a panel of judges for $10,000 in prizes. Finalists for the Buffalo Lounge Elevator Pitch Competition were selected from video-taped submissions by a panel of investment professionals at i2E, Inc., a co-sponsor of the event along the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber as part of the Office of Entrepreneurial Development.Oklahoma entrepreneurs and companies that will make 90-second pitches about their innovative concepts at the Buffalo Lounge include Norman residents and businessmen Josh Wright, Buzzam Radio, and Jeff Moore, Littlefish/Fountain Ventures.

First State Bank promotions

Judy Newcomb has been named Assistant Vice President of First State Bank. The promotion is effective immediately. Newcomb began her banking career at FSB as a part-time employee in 1983. She became a full-time employee in the New Accounts department in 1985. She has served as Deposit Services Administrator and Payroll Clerk since 2003. A long-time resident of Noble, Newcomb attended Noble Public Schools and Hills Business College. She has continued her banking education by participating in seminars and training courses to keep pace with the changes in the banking industry.

Karen Cochran was promoted to Vice President. Since joining the bank’s staff as a part-time teller in 1987, Cochran has steadily moved up the ranks during her 26 year FSB career. Prior to being appointed VP, Ms. Cochran served as Internal Control Officer/Auditor from 2002 until her advancement in 2007 to Bank Secrecy Act Officer, Auditor and Bookkeeping Supervisor. Originally from Las Vegas, NV, Cochran’s family moved to Norman when she was in Kindergarten and then to Noble when she was an eighth grade student. After graduating from Noble High School and while attending the University of Oklahoma, she began her banking career. She has filled the positions of drive-in teller, lobby teller and Loan Services Representative before being promoted to Auditor in 2002. She continues her education and certification in the banking industry by regularly attending both required and optional courses.

Bankers promoted

Chuck Thompson, President and CEO of Republic Bank & Trust, Norman, Oklahoma, announced this week the following Officer Promotions:

Rhonda Bigelow — has been promoted to Banking Officer. She serves as a Mortgage Underwriter in the Bank’s Mortgage Department located at 3500 W. Robinson. Rhonda has been with Republic for one year.

Josh Edge — has been promoted to Banking Officer. Edge works at the Bank’s Downtown Banking Center serving as Credit Specialist in the Bank’s Specialized Banking Department. He has been with Republic for two years.

Ruth Simpson — has been promoted to Banking Officer. She works in the Bank’s Downtown Banking Center as a Relationship Manager. Simpson has been with Republic for three years.

John Sumida — has been promoted to Trust Operations Officer. Sumida works at the Bank’s Downtown Banking Center in their Trust Department. He has been with Republic for two years.
