NORMAN — The Sooners will send five grapplers to the NCAA Championships beginning Thursday, March 21, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Undefeated Kendric Maple was given a No. 2 seed at 141 pounds. Cody Brewer (133), Nick Lester (149), Matt Lester (157) and Bubby Graham (165) will join Maple in the tournament.
Maple will first wrestle Maryland’s Frank Goodwin (7-9). Graham, the sixth seed, will face Stanford’s Bret Baumbach (22-10). Brewer, who earned a No. 8 seed, will take on Columbia’s Matt Bystol (9-10).
The Lester twins enter the tournament unseeded and will be looking for upsets. Nick will wrestle Utah’s Josh Wilson (21-8), and Matt will take the mat against Air Force’s Joshua Kreimier (27-4).
