Fire destroys Lexington home

NORMAN — A Cleveland County home burned to the ground Monday afternoon after an apparent explosion at the residence.

Cedar Country dispatcher Roger Wickey said the call came in as an explosion at 12:05 p.m. at 9451 144th Street in Lexington.

“When firefighters arrived on scene it was a structure fire on the ground,” Wickey said. “There was a person living there, but they were not home at the time.”

No injuries have been reported but the house is a total loss, he said.

Cedar Country, Lexington and Slaughterville fire departments responded to the scene, as well as the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department. Wickey said firefighters were still putting out hot spots several hours after the initial fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
