Sooners bounce back in a big way with win over Cyclones

NORMAN — If Oklahoma harbored any demons from its loss at Texas, it did an incredible job of masking them Saturday. The Sooners rolled to an 86-69 victory over Iowa State at Lloyd Noble Center.

The win lifted OU to 19-9 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12 Conference, and guaranteed the program’s first winning record in conference play since 2009.

The Sooners set a Big 12 and school record and matched an NCAA record by going 34 for 34 from the free-throw line. Romero Osby led OU with 22 points. Sam Grooms added 19 and Steven Pledger tossed in 14.

The victory came three days after OU blew a 22-point in overtime loss at Texas. OU didn’t give the Cyclones (19-10, 9-7) any chance to get back in the game.

Tyrus McGee led Iowa State with 22 points.
