OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City-based charities Feed the Children and World Neighbors have announced a merger.
In a joint press release issued Tuesday, the two nonprofits announced that World Neighbors will become a subsidiary of Feed the Children, Inc.
Both charities have worked to serve some of the world’s poorest communities. World Neighbors has focused primarily on long-term solutions, rather than short-term aid, by working with local villagers to help them identify and solve their own problems.
According to the release, World Neighbors will continue to operate in the same capacity, while Feed the Children will assume responsibility for administrative support functions.
Feed the Children President and CEO Kevin Hagan says the collaboration will allow both charities to “better provide emergency relief and long-term solutions for impoverished communities.”
