NORMAN — Candidates for the Norman City Council, Ward 4, will appear in a forum at the Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon on Feb. 17. The candidates who are expected to participate are Zac Abbott, Greg Jungman and Rhett Jones
The event will be held at Norman's new events center, Catering Creations, 3750 W. Main.
Rhett Jones is a corporate accountant working in Downtown Norman. He has directly invested in this area through his entrepreneurial pursuits including a film production company, a music booking agency and a music/art co-op. He serves on the board of the Norman Music Festival. He is a 5th generation of Norman, father of an honor student and a resident in the Downtown Norman arts district.
Greg Jungman is the Director of Affordable Housing for the State of Oklahoma, a position with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma where he focused on municipal government and urban growth issues.
He has served the City of Norman on many committees over the last 10 years. He and his wife have been active in activities of McKinley and Lincoln Elementary Schools.
Zac Abbott, a member of the Chickasaw Nation, works for the Chickasaw Nation Industries in Norman and is responsible for community and business development.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in political science in the early 2000's. While at OU he was president of the largest student organization, the Commuter Student Association. He participated in the political science department's summer abroad programs studying in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Lunch for this event begins at 11:15 a.m. with the forum beginning about noon. Attendees will order from Catering Creations mini buffet. The meeting is open to the public.

The Cleveland County Democratic Party will host its annual chili cook-off at 11 a.. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the J.D. McCarty Cener, 2002 E. Robinson.
Democratic candidates and elected officials will be the speakers.
A dawing will be held for a Kindle fire at the conclusin of the program. A $10 donation is suggested.
In addition to a variety of chili dishes, the menu includes homemade desserts and iced tea. A donation of $10 per adult, $25 per family with children and $6 for students is suggested.
