NORMAN — The contractor on the widening of the I-35 bridge over the Canadian River will close the northbound outside lane Tuesday.
This past week, the southbound outside lane was closed. Two lanes of traffic will remain open in both directions until the construction project is complete. This project is expected to be complete by September 2013.
The construction contract allows the contractor to earn early completion incentive pay at $3,000 a day with a maximum of 100 days, for an early completion date in June 2013. Access will continue to be provided for I-35 to HWY 9 East and HWY 9 West. Additional questions may be directed to John Clink, The city’s Capital Projects Manager, at 366-5424.
Construction on the I-35 Bridge over the Canadian River began on Jan. 21. This is a $16 million construction project awarded to Sherwood Construction of Wichita, Kansas. This project will add one lane in each direction to the bridge.
